You can use an internet price comparison service to compare the different offerings from domestic electricity and gas suppliers, and to find out how much you could save by switching to a new supplier.
In 2002 energywatch launched its first voluntary code of practice for companies providing domestic electricity and gas price comparison services over the internet. A number of companies applied and were successfully accredited, which meant they featured the energywatch logo on their web sites.
In 2005 energywatch commissioned a review of the code by independent auditors. We then consulted with Ofgem and other interested parties. This resulted in a number of recommendations to ensure that consumers consistently get accurate and uniform results from the price comparison services.
The Confidence Code was launched on Tuesday 19th December 2006.
The
following companies have been accredited, as they have been able to demonstrate
compliance with all nine requirements of the Confidence Code. These accredited
sites now display the Confidence Code logo on their site.
You can use any one of them to get a quote to find out how much you could save by switching to a new supplier.
