Utilita has one green tariff:
The planetsaver tariff is open to single or dual fuel customers and is designed to help reduce the impact of your home’s annual carbon emissions. Customers receive 3 planetpoints for every £1 spent on either electricity or gas i.e. a customer with an annual £1,000 dual fuel bill will receive 3,000 planetpoints. An average dual fuel customer will pay an extra 10% or £100 per year over Utilita’s standard prices.
Utilita offers two versions of the planetsaver tariff. Dual fuel customers on both versions will receive three energy saving light bulbs with their first quarterly statement (one bulb for single fuel customers) and a free energy efficiency audit of their home.
planetsaver 1 offers customers green source electricity as well as a carbon offset element for their gas consumption. 2.5 out of every 3 planetpoints received will be redeemed by Utilita and used to source the electricity and make a contribution to the non-profit organisation Climate Care, which invests in environmentally friendly projects around the world. Customers can keep the remaining 0.5 planetpoints out of every 3 received and redeem these for energy saving products and technologies such as energy saving light bulbs, loft insulation and cavity wall insulation. For example a dual fuel consumer spending £1,000 per annum will collect 500 planetpoints over the year, which can be redeemed for energy efficiency products from Utilita.
planetsaver 2 excludes the green source and carbon offset element. It offers customers the chance to collect all 3 planetpoints received per £1 spent and to redeem them against energy savings products and technologies to be used in their home. A duel fuel customer spending £1,000 per annum will collect 3,000 planetpoints over the year. These can be redeemed for energy savings products offered by Utilita i.e. cavity wall insulation is worth 2,700 planetpoints.
