Green Energy+10 is a green source tariff that supplies you with 10% more renewable green electricity than the statutory requirements (equal to 7.9% in 2007 - 08) under the Renewables Obligation. The company will match an increasing proportion of the electricity you use with a supply of renewable power back into the electricity grid. In 2006-07 the electricity supply mix for customers on this tariff was sourced from renewable sources (20%) and good quality combined heat and power (CHP) from accredited generators (80%).
Green Energy 100 is a green source tariff that matches 100% of the electricity you use with a supply of renewable power (that qualifies under the Renewables Obligation) back into the electricity grid. It costs on average 7% more than your regional electricity supplier.
The first 100,000 customers of either tariff will be given the option to receive shares in Green Energy if they remain a customer for three years.
Green Energy UK has informed energywatch that 70% of the power purchase agreements they have entered into are with renewable generators that didn’t exist when the company was formed in 2001.
