Choosing a new supplier

You may be looking for a new supplier for a number of reasons:

  • because you have moved into new premises

  • because you know that your current contract is about to expire

  • because you have never signed a contract and want to save on your current tariff

Follow our steps to changing your energy supplier. You should pay particular attention to the terms of your existing contract that relate to notice and termination periods, ensuring that all the information about your consumption, sites and meters is correct.

Be aware that some suppliers may offer an online service for entering into or renewing contracts

You may receive calls offering to quote for your supply, but you should always remember your right to make a choice unprompted by sales activity.

energywatch recommends that you, or a third party intermediary you appoint to act for you, approach a number of suppliers to get comparable quotes. You should prepare a short description of your supply needs, using the information on your bill (as below) and use it to contact suppliers. However you will need to be careful if your most recent bill is estimated, as your usage figures could be incorrect. energywatch is not able to recommend suppliers (suppliers contact details).
