energywatch is governed by its National Council. The Council has nine members
including the organisation’s Chair, the Chief Executive and the National Chairs
of the Lay Committees for Scotland and Wales.
The National Council is the governing body. It has corporate responsibility
for ensuring that energywatch fulfills the objectives set by the Secretary of
State and carries responsibility for:
Proper conduct of public business
It is also responsible for ensuring energywatch meets all the requirements for the use of public funds.
The energywatch Chair is a non-executive part-time role. The Chair is accountable to the Minister of State for Energy in the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI).

National offices in Scotland and Wales benefit from the additional support of Lay Committees. The Lay Commmittees are responsible for raising awareness of the interests and concerns of consumers in Scotland and in Wales. Each Lay Committee has a Chair who is a member of the National Council.

The energywatch Chief Executive is a full-time executive role. The Chief Executive is accountable to the Chair of energywatch and, as the organisation’s Accounting Officer, is also personally responsible for safeguarding public funds.

Executive control of energywatch is vested in the Management Board comprising the Chief Executive and the Directors of Services and Campaigns, and the Heads of Operations and Campaigns.
energywatch provides its services to consumers living in England, Scotland
and Wales through national offices in Scotland and Wales and 4 local offices
in England. There is a small head office in London.

Each office provides teams of Consumer Advisers who work directly with consumers to fulfil information requests, provide advice and take-up complaints.
